Before You Book

Shibari is a Japanese rope-based body art form rooted in aesthetics, tension, and connection. It can be practiced as creative expression, meditation, performance art, or intimate exploration. At The LotusTuch, we approach it as an art and a practice — not a scene.

Not at all. Our Bound to Begin workshop is designed specifically for complete beginners. Knotty Nights welcomes all levels. If you're curious, that's all you need to show up.

No. Solo attendees are always welcome — you can practice on yourself, a willing community member, or any other trusted individual. Partners and friends are welcome to join too.

Our workshops and public events are non-sexual educational environments. Shibari can carry intimacy and sensation — that's part of the art — but our group spaces are centered on learning, creativity, and community. Private sessions are tailored to your goals and boundaries, discussed in the required consultation beforehand.

R.A.C.K. stands for Risk-Aware Consensual Kink. It means we acknowledge that what we do carries inherent risk, and we approach it with education, communication, and informed consent. It's the ethical foundation for everything we do.

What to Expect

Wear something comfortable that you can move in — fitted layers work best so the rope can sit against your body without catching on loose fabric. Avoid jewelry and anything with sharp hardware. Tank tops, leggings, or athletic wear are all great choices.

Rope is adaptable. Let us know about any physical considerations beforehand and we'll work with you — adjusting ties, positions, and pacing to meet your body where it is. Accessibility is part of our practice, not an afterthought.

Bound to Begin is a 1-hour workshop. Knotty Nights runs approximately 3 hours — about an hour focused on the evening's topic and intention, an hour of guided practice, and an hour of free time to play, mingle, and connect. Private sessions are typically 1–2 hours, depending on what we design together during your consultation.

You'll need at least one rope (nylon, hemp, or jute) — we recommend 30ft, 6mm — and a pair of standard-size safety shears. A yoga mat is also recommended. Community rope supply is limited, so bringing your own is encouraged.

Private Sessions

Instructional sessions are for learning to tie — building your skills as a rigger in a one-on-one setting. Experiential sessions are for being tied — exploring sensation, trust, and the art of rope from the receiving side with an experienced rigger. Not sure which? That's what the consultation is for.

Every private session is individually curated. The consultation lets us talk through your goals, experience level, boundaries, and any physical considerations — so the session is designed around you, not a template. It's also a chance to make sure we're a good fit for each other.

Private sessions start at $200. Final pricing is curated based on the session type, duration, and complexity. We'll discuss this during your consultation so there are no surprises.
